THE Rhythm Junkies will be headlining at the latest Groovy Happening in aid of Manorlands.

The event is upstairs at the Parkside Social Club, Haworth, on Saturday, May 4, from 7.30pm-midnight.

Admission is £5, cash only, with all proceeds going to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Since Groovy Happening – now on event number 139 – was launched, £51,200 has been raised.

The Rhythm Junkies is a busy club and party band, which last appeared at Groovy in August, 2022.

Its current line-up of Steve Carter on keyboards, guitarist Karl Bramah, Michael Owens on bass and drummer Martin Henderson has been together for over six years.

A Groovy spokesperson says: "To ease the boredom of lockdown the band started writing and recording its own songs and releasing them on Spotify, Amazon etc. When it last appeared at Groovy the band was able to showcase the songs, and the audience loved them!"

First on stage will be Sax Bomb, a four-piece group from the Haworth area, followed by Groovy debutant Screams of Youth, a three-piece grunge rock band.

Organisers apologise to musicians and others who turned up at this month's event, which had to be cancelled due to a power cut.
