AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 14-year-old Keighley boy.

Ellis Lockley died in a crash near Keighley Tarn on April 28.

He was a passenger in a silver Vauxhall Corsa which crashed in Tarn Lane, known locally as the 'Yorkshire Bumps', shortly before 2.20pm.

Two other passengers in the car suffered minor injuries.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed pending further enquiries.

The inquest into Ellis' death was opened at Bradford Coroner's Court today.

Assistant coroner Angela Brocklehurst described the teenager's death as "tragic".

She said "many enquiries" needed to take place and that she was awaiting further reports.

The inquest was adjourned, and will be reviewed on August 30. There is an expected completion date of November 11.

Following the crash, the West Yorkshire Police major collision enquiry team issued an appeal for witnesses and information.

It said it was particularly keen to trace the drivers of an Audi and a Yaris who were in the area around that time.
