A FOUNDER member of Haworth & Worth Valley Rotary Club has received a coveted honour.
Margaret Hammond has achieved 'Major Donor' recognition after passing the landmark of donating more than 10,000 US dollars to the Rotary Foundation charity during her years as a Rotarian.
She has been awarded a medallion by the movement's governing body, Rotary International.
David Phillips, district governor of Rotary District 1040, and Stephen Ellis – the district's Rotary Foundation lead – visited Margaret at Springbank Care Home in Silsden to make the presentation.
David said: "Margaret has made a significant contribution to the Rotary Foundation and thoroughly deserves this recognition.
"She is now one of the few Major Donors in our district of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire and is an inspiration to Rotarians in both counties."
Margaret, who was joined for the presentation by her brother Alan Atkinson, also received flowers on behalf of district Rotarians.
