AN innovative partnership is helping Keighley people facing financial worries and other problems.

Yorkshire Building Society's Keighley branch is hosting a Citizens Advice advisor one day a week.

People can book a free hour-long appointment, to discuss issues ranging from debt and welfare benefits to housing and legal issues.

Since the initiative was launched in Keighley – and at the society's Bradford and Shipley branches – last October, more than 100 people have been helped.

Susan Allen, for Yorkshire Building Society, says: "We're incredibly proud of the impact this service has had."

Rich Wilkinson, chief officer of Citizens Advice Bradford & Airedale, says: "This year we’ve seen many households reach out to us for support with a range of issues. That’s why our partnership with Yorkshire Building Society is so important in helping us to increase the assistance we can offer to people in need."
