CHRISTMAS may be far from the thoughts of most, but Santa has been spotted out and about.

He was at Skipton Gala yesterday (June 8) and will be appearing at other galas during the summer, including those at Eldwick & Gilstead, Oakworth and Cross Roads.

Behind the initiative is Keighley Lions Club, which stages popular annual Santa sleigh tours on the district's streets in the run-up to Christmas. Proceeds are donated to charity.

Luke Maunsell, for the club, says: "Santa had a very busy festive period and now, whilst taking a holiday, he is also seeking to continue spreading joy.

"Our Santa sleigh is one of the most important things we do, and we're glad that we can roll out the fun throughout the year."

Keighley Lions is a charitable service organisation which supports the community through events, such as litter picking, and fundraising.
