A Keighley man who stole several bottles of strong spirit from a Skipton store was one of life’s unfortunates, a court heard.
Daniel Hill, 30, stole two bottles of Malibu, together worth £25.98, from Sunwin House on June 24 and a further five bottles, worth £64.95, on June 30, Skipton magistrates heard on Friday.
The court heard that Hill, who pleaded guilty to theft, had been arrested after police had recognised him on the store’s CCTV footage.
But in mitigation, Glenn Chivers said Hill, of Alkincote Street, suffered considerable and serious health issues.
He said he was frequently taken advantage of by his acquaintances. Mr Chivers added that Hill had only recently appeared before Bingley magistrates on similar shoplifting charges where he had received a 12-month community order.
Magistrates gave Hill a 12-month conditional discharge and warned him he would face a greater penalty if he offended again.
