People in Keighley addicted to drugs or alcohol are being offered support by a new project officially launched next week.

Choices is designed to help its clients take the right steps towards recovery.

A spokesman for the group said: “We aim to complement the existing work of treatment organisations in Keighley to support individuals who wish to pursue the path of total abstinence.

“This initiative has been started by a group of experienced people who believe that there is a need in this area for a local, community rehabilitation project for people who have problems with drug or alcohol dependency.

“Choices will draw on the experience of similar schemes in Bradford, such as the Caleb Project and Ripple, which have a high success rate.

“Clients will be encouraged to follow a 12-step programme and they will have the opportunity to meet and receive support from those who have successfully turned their lives around.”

The new project launches at 2.15pm, on Wednesday, at Keighley Shared Church Hall, in Market Street.

People will then be welcome to attend the group’s weekly drop-in sessions in the church hall, every Wednesday, from 2.15-4pm, starting on November 18.
