A teenager accused of attempting to murder seven people in Keighley town centre is to be seen by a psychiatrist.

Bradford Crown Court was told yesterday that fitness to plead might be raised by the defence for 19-year-old Raheem Nawaz.

Nawaz, of Wilmer Drive, Heaton, Bradford, who was flanked in the dock by three security officers during the ten-minute hearing, did not plead to the seven charges.

The offences are alleged to have taken place outside the Livery Rooms, on August 20.

Prosecutor Richard Wright said it was anticipated that if the defendant was fit to plead a trial would not be required.

Judge Christopher Moss QC confirmed the trial date as December 21. Remanding Nawaz in custody, Judge Moss told him there would either be a trial on that date or it would be determined whether he was fit to be tried.
