More than 360 children from schools across the north of England took part in the annual Malsis Cross Country.

Twenty-two schools from as far afield as Windermere and Yarm were represented.

Andrew Raikes — co-ordinator of sport at Malsis School, in Cross Hills — said: “We were delighted to see so many children at our cross country this year. As the first cross country event of the school year, the Malsis Run is always much anticipated by all of the schools.” The U11 boys’ race — which attracted a field of 100 — was won by Malsis pupil Sam Stewart, adding a gold medal to the silver he took at last year’s event. Other winners were: U11 girls, Tassy Heslop (Moorfield School); U13 boys, Tom Blanchard (Ermysted’s); U13 girls, Abby Parkinson (Bradford Grammar). Teams – U11 boys, Giggleswick; U11 girls, Moorfield; U13 boys, Ermysted’s; U13 girls, Skipton Girls’ High.
