Greenhead and Oakbank students who are trained to help diffuse conflict in their schools took part in an idea-sharing event.

They were among more than 50 youngsters from across Yorkshire and Lancashire who gathered at the National Media Museum in Bradford.

The year 10 pupils, who had received training in the past year from youth and conflict specialist Leap, took part in workshops to develop their skills and exchanged tips.

There was also a film and games and each school gave a presentation about how its young mediators had worked to tackle conflict and bullying.

Jennifer Rogers, chief executive of Leap, said: “It is fantastic to be able to unite such a talented group of experienced mediators from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

“It is important for Leap to showcase that young people are the solution and not a problem. I have every confidence that these young people can help create a legacy of peace for us all and I hope they will continue to inspire and lead others in preventing violence in their schools.”
