Sixth-form students have been enjoying their studies outside the classroom on a series of geography field trips arranged by their school.

A group of 14 Holy Family Catholic School pupils participated in the trips, designed to aid preparation for their AS exams in June next year.

Their activities included examining the beck which flows through Malham to help them understand how rivers change course as they flow downstream.

They also visited various sites in the Yorkshire Dales, including Giggleswick, Hellifield, Stainforth, Gargrave and Settle. In Settle the students quizzed people on what they thought of their town.

Their final investigation took them to Ainsdale beach, near Southport, where they recorded the height and temperature of the sand dunes. A spokesman for the Keighley school said: “Overall, the three field trips have been a successful and rewarding experience for the students.”
