Members of a school science club have celebrated their group’s third birthday.
The club, at Holy Family Catholic School, in Keighley, runs during lunchtimes, supported by teachers Andrea Pritchard and Claire Weston.
Members presented a surprise birthday cake to celebrate the occasion.
Miss Pritchard said: “I’d had no idea what they were planning although I should have been prepared. “They are an enthusiastic and very personable little group.” The club has organised events for science week within Holy Family and has run a wider science programme to involve local primary schools.
Its members have previously attended a presentation from a NASA astronaut, visited a chemical plant and designed and launched rockets.
More recently, the pupils competed at the Big Bang Science Fair, in Leeds, winning two prizes.
Their next aim is to design their own personalised laboratory coats.
