Cullingworth Primary School children are learning the recipe for business success.

The young entrepreneurs are raising money by publishing a book of recipes from parents and other villagers.

They treated the book project as a business venture to accompany classroom lessons in enterprise skills.

Children took on roles such as treasurers and administrators and were interviewed for the jobs by school governors.

The youngsters advertised around the village for recipes, chose which to include and then designed the book.

Cooking With Cullingworth is now on sale for £3, either at the school or village shop Gift Tag.

The project involved 34 children aged eight and nine from year four, who are taught by Jackie Parfett.

She said the children had handled every aspect of the project.

She said: “It’s very much to teach skills which will gain them employment when they’re out in the workforce.”
