An Airedale Hospital doctor has been fined £450 and his licence endorsed with six penalty points for speeding.
Dr Konstantinos Michalopoulos rushed though temporary roadworks on the A1, at Rainton, because he was concerned about his elderly father, Skipton Magistrates heard on Friday.
Cameras on the A1 recorded Michalopoulos travelling at 83mph in his Jeep Grand Cherokee – 33mph over the temporary limit.
Michalopoulos, 33, told the court he had been on his way back from delivering medical notes to Newcastle when his father, who was travelling with him, had started feeling unwell.
He said his concern was to get through the roadworks as soon as possible to reach a place where he could check him over.
Michalopoulos, of Harehills Lane, Leeds, admitted speeding and in addition to the fine, was ordered to pay £45 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
