To many people the move by Keighley Musicians Centre from the railway station to the town’s former Employment Exchange may not seem much to get excited about.

But this newspaper will be shouting long and loud about the move by the long-established family business. The two-storye building in Russell Street will not only have sales and lessons, but will also house a new arts centre.

When was the last time anyone heard of purely private money - especially in this area - being put into such a venture which will put Keighly further on the map?

The great thing about the moves by the family is to work with other entertainments and arts groups in the town to help try and form a special quarter for Keighley. The odds are that this will be one of the biggest centres of its kind in the United Kingdom.

Add to that the ethical side of the business - they are about the plant their 1000th tree -and we have another company in our midst which is defying the recession and expanding.

In order to manage costs the family unit is doing what work they can themselves.

They are all proud to say they love Keighley and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Such ventures open up a whole host of other possibilities for attracting more people to the town - tourists and people on a night out.

Where else can you go where there is such a choice of quality real ales and traditional pubs; a superb restored cinema; a choice of restaurants and take-aways; historic attractions; and rail and bus museums.

What we need this year is more people with the level of faith in Keighley as shown by all those involved in Keighley Musicians Centre.
