A blaze badly damaged the kitchen of a second-floor flat in a Keighley high-rise block last night.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire at Leylands House, Parkwood Rise, shortly before midnight.
Crews from Keighley, Bingley and Haworth - and an aerial appliance from Bradford - attended.
Watch commander Jason Bentley - of Keighley fire service - praised the actions of the flat’s four occupants, who had safely evacuated the apartment when the crews arrived.
“They had closed the doors as they left the flat which was exactly the right thing to do - that helped contain the fire,” he said.
“The kitchen was severely damaged but apart from a bit of smoke damage to the lounge, the rest of the flat was OK.
“Also, smoke detectors were fitted and working.”
It is believed the fire was caused by a faulty motor in a kitchen appliance.
