A temporary art centre at Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre will celebrate its final day this Saturday.

The Artistic Off-Licence, in the unit previously occupied by Specsavers, has been running for six weeks.

A spokesman for the project, Stephen Fanning, said the art gallery had been very well received.

He said: “The six weeks have been a great success in giving a platform for local artists to showcase their work and for musicians to perform.

“This Saturday we have a variety of acts on throughout the day to mark the end. These will include local musicians and bands.

“Robin Leitch, the singer from Random Hand, will be doing stand-up, which has recently been well received at comedy clubs in Leeds, and Joe Tilston will be playing his solo folk songs. The Wooden Machine will also be performing.”

He added: “We also have a poet who will be reading her work. Jane Hollingsworth, who is known as Emjay, studied for an MA in poetry at Manchester.

“She has also won the open mic at Ilkley Literature Festival.”
