Airedale Writers’ Circle has launched its adult open writing competition.
Anyone aged 14 and over can take part, with entries invited in three categories – short stories, poems and articles.
Submissions can be on any theme, but must not have been published, broadcast on radio or performed on television or stage and must be the original work of the entrant.
The winner in each category will receive £50, and the Challenge Cup will be awarded to the best overall entry from a member of the Writers’ Circle.
Entrants can make as many submissions as they wish. There is a £3.50 fee for the first entry and £2.50 for subsequent ones. The closing date is Tuesday, September 11.
Judging will be by romantic novelist Kate Walker, and the winners will be announced and the Challenge Cup presented at the Airedale Writers’ Circle Christmas party on December 11.
Entry forms can be obtained from Keighley, Skipton, Bingley, Shipley and Ilkley libraries, or can be downloaded from airedalewriters.btck.
