Two Keighley businesses will feature in the latest series of a hit American television show.

Strike Taekwondo, in South Street, and The Beauty Rooms, in Low Street, were drafted in to be part of the second season of My Big Redneck Vacation.

The programme, produced by a Florida-based firm, follows the extended Clampet family, from Louisiana, on holiday in England.

The show is due to be aired in England this autumn.

Lisa Winteridge, chief instructor at Strike Taekwondo, said: “The family has been staying at Broughton Hall and the chef who works there wanted to show the guys taekwondo. They contacted me and I agreed to them coming to the club to have a go.

“I didn’t expect to have a microphone pack attached and be teaching the guys for about one-and-a- half hours, but it was good fun. It was my first outing on TV and was definitely interesting.

“I gave them a taster in the various aspects of taekwondo, including kicking techniques. They were game enough to have a go at flying and spinning kicks and also broke wood, though the latter didn’t require much technique given the size and strength of these guys!”

Claire Scott, who manages The Beauty Rooms, said herself, business partner Jessica Smithson and employee Jade Hartley were invited to Broughton Hall to be filmed carrying out manicures and pedicures on some of the Clampet family members.

Claire said: “It was very surreal, but it was a fun experience. It was a hot day and we were asked to set everything up in the sunken garden at the back of the hall because they wanted it to look good visually. We were sat out in the baking sunshine doing our treatments, so it wasn’t a usual day’s work to say the least. We were there for three hours and were filmed from beginning to end.”
