Worth Valley landscape photographer and film-maker Simon Warner is giving an illustrated talk this Saturday about his work.
He will contrast his photographs with paintings by the likes of Joseph Pighills and Fay Godwin, who are famous for capturing the brooding nature of the moors above Haworth and Oxenhope.
The free talk, being given at Bradford Council’s Manor House Museum in Ilkley, at 2pm, is in support of the Moors Views exhibition, which runs at the museum until Sunday, July 1.
The exhibition features photographs taken as part of a year-long competition in which people were invited to capture all four seasons on the South Pennine uplands.
As part of their prize, the three overall winners – John Ashton, John Lowes and David Martin – recently spent a day with Mr Warner exploring the moorland edge above Hardcastle Crags.
Also on display are items from Bradford Museums and Galleries’ collections and objects associated with the South Pennine uplands, including a barometer made in Keighley in 1780.
Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, the council’s executive member for culture, said: “Simon Warner’s talk will give a fascinating insight into his own work, as well as exploring ways in which famous artists have captured the district’s moors.”
