Pupils ensured people attending their school’s parent-teacher evening felt welcome by using their culinary skills to provide some extra hospitality.
Members of Holy Family Catholic School’s Let’s Get Cooking Club provided food for the event, which also featured a talk by guest speaker Tony Hennigan, a former Holy Family deputy head boy. He spoke about a walk he did from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
The club members, who are supervised by leader Sheila Hastings, baked biscuits, cakes and savouries for a buffet at the event.
On the night itself the pupils also prepared sandwiches and helped serve the buffet supper.
Ms Hastings said: “The club meets for two hours or so each Thursday evening.
“At first it started slowly but as the students’ families realised that their children were actually quite good cooks they started to send double or treble quantities of ingredients, so that a meal for the whole family was going home.”
