The Olympics was a theme for a visit by primary school children to Parkside School in Cullingworth.
The under-12s were looking at what learning was like in “big school”, with taster lessons in history, geography and religion.
The pupils researched the history of the Olympics on iPads, analysed whether the wealth of a country meant they could win more medals, and compared the qualities of Olympic athletes with those of Jesus and Moses. The children were praised for their behaviour and enthusiasm.
l Almost 70 students at Parkside School took the Big Dance Pledge this month. The Pledge involved thousands of students across the world taking part in a world record attempt.
They had to simultaneously perform a five-minute choreographed dance with movements based on Olympic sports.
The event marked the arrival of the Olympic flame in Britain and the start of the countdown to Big Dance week, part of Olympic-linked cultural activities.
