Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for a top accolade in the national Care Integration Awards.

It is a finalist in the musculoskeletal care category for its work to improve the care of patients, particularly those aged 60 and over, with hip fractures.

Improvements have included closer working between the orthopaedics and older people’s medicine departments, with an emphasis on falls prevention and bone health.

The team supports patients through rehabilitation services, advice, aids and adaptations to help them maintain or regain their mobility and independence.

Bridget Fletcher, the foundation trust’s chief executive, said: “Providing high-quality care and supporting our patients to remain as independent as possible is very important so we are delighted to be shortlisted for this award.

“The success of the scheme has been due to the close working of a number of diverse specialities in the hospital. Good team work has led to better outcomes and helped us put our patients at the forefront of excellent clinical care.”

The team will learn if it has won at an awards ceremony in London on Wednesday.
