Organisers of two music festivals are emulating the famous Leeds and Reading festivals by having a band play both events.

Halcyon Days will perform at both the Woodfest on a farm above Cross Roads and the Aire Do in Cliffe Castle Park.

Organisers hope music fans will attend Woodfest on the Friday and the Aire Do on the Sunday, and commute between the two on the Saturday.

Woodfest, which is run in aid of the Manorlands hospice, this week announced its 12-band line-up for July 27 and 28.

Manorlands fundraiser Leah Mitchell said fans would have a great choice of performers to watch.

She said: “We can accommodate camping at Woodfest so for £3 per person Aire Do visitors can get the full festival experience. There is a special low-cost shuttle bus service so that people can easily get between both events.”

The event has run for the past five years at Highcliffe Farm, Lees Moor, and has raised more than £10,000 including £5,000 last year.

Headlining on the Saturday evening this year will be local covers band Night Patrol and indie rockers Beat the Poet.

Saturday afternoon will see Lee Southall, a musician with chart-topping band the Coral, performing acoustically with folk artist Molly Jones and percussionist Matthew Fowlds.

Amy Louise will perform on the Saturday both with her Rihanna tribute act reAna and as part of girl pop trio the Bon Bonz, and also appearing are Glass Eye Diners.

Woodfest will begin on the Friday evening with experimental psychedelic punk band Indianic, punk and ska trio Three Chord Wonder, and alternative rock band Talking to Strangers.

There will also be an “acowstic” tent with alternative acts, the Dales Jam Community Jazz Band, and a battle of the bands featuring local school pupils.

Event host, farmer Richard Wood, said: “We've tried hard to put together a selection of bands for each session. We’ve even got big screen footage of the Olympic opening ceremony.”

Weekend tickets cost £12, while Friday night is £5 and Saturday night is £8. Camping is free.
