Haworth Primary School is celebrating an Ofsted report which praises its “inspirational leadership” and outstanding pupil behaviour.

The report has been released following an assessment carried out last month.

The inspectors single out Haworth Primary for its exceptional curriculum, adding that the school does more than normal to provide pupils with invaluable life skills.

Two aspects of school life have been judged worthy of grade one, which means “outstanding”. These are the behaviour and safety of pupils and school leadership and management.

The quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and overall effectiveness are all assigned grade two, which means “good”.

The inspectors say that pupil behaviour is excellent, and praise the school’s inclusion of children with special educational needs, its engagement with parents, the Before and After School club and the work of the school governors.

The Ofsted report comments: “Pupils recognise right from wrong and enjoy ethical debate within the Fairtrade agenda. This is a very happy place where pupils focus on success and enjoyment in a calm and purposeful environment.”

The report highlights the school’s commitment to showing its children how to grow and cook their own food.

Haworth Primary headteacher, Janet Parkinson, said: “We are truly delighted at Ofsted’s findings and are very pleased with this very positive evaluation which is the result of the dedication and hard work from our whole school community.

“In the letter from the inspectors to the pupils they praised them for the way they took care of each other and let them know that ‘the curriculum is first class’.”

Councillor Ralph Berry, Bradford Council portfolio holder for children and young people’s services, said: “This is good news for Haworth Primary and testimony to the hard work of all those involved. Pupils, staff, parents, governors and the wider community should be extremely proud.”
