Britain’s Olympic athletes will be looking their best thanks to a trainee Keighley beautician.

Siobhan Heliwell will work as a salon junior serving the Olympic Village during the summer’s Games in London.

The 24-year-old from Denholme will provide manicures, makeovers and massages in the athletes’ village and the Olympic press centre.

Siobhan, who will be on site between this month and September, is currently studying Level 3 beauty therapy at the Keighley Campus of Leeds City College.

She won her Olympic place after entering a competition run by Podium, the further and higher education unit for the 2012 games and describing in 50 words why she wanted to be a salon junior.

She said: “I simply said I would love to help the world’s top athletes fulfil their dream as well as fulfilling my own.”

Siobhan will be joined by fellow Leeds City College students Laurie Wing and Danielle Avery, who are studying Level 2 hairdressing at the Horsforth Campus.

Siobhan has been fundraising to help finance her stay in the capital, including a pamper event with fellow beauty therapy students.
