An award-winning Keighley baker is preparing for the national launch of his acclaimed bread recipe.
Mike Armstrong, who works in the bakery at the Sainsbury’s supermarket in Keighley, came up with the idea for a loaf incorporating beer and three cheeses.
His bread has taken six months to develop from his original recipe to a loaf which will be sold commercially.
The bread will be launched at 1,000 Sainsbury’s stores on Wednesday. Mr Armstrong, who has been baking for 35 years since leaving school, will sample the product in the Keighley store next week.
His unique type of loaf won the Sainsbury’s in-house 2011 bake-off competition, which was judged by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
The contest saw Mr Armstrong beat more than 4,000 entrants from across the company.
