A Keighley musician has made a personal plea for people to attend a music festival in aid of Manorlands hospice.

Gaz Blackburn will perform with his band Halcyon Days at Woodfest, to be held on Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28, above Cross Roads.

His father Andy, 48, is currently receiving palliative care from Manorlands nurses as he is suffering from lung cancer.

Singer-songwriter Gaz said: “My aim is to get as many people as possible to come and support us and raise as much money as possible for the hospice.

“The staff there deserve medals the size of dustbin lids for their outstanding work, not just for the care they provide for my dad but the support they give to my mum and the rest of the family.”

Woodfest, to be held at Highcliffe Farm, Lees Moor, will offer 12 acts including Night Patrol, Beat the Poet, Talking to Strangers, Amy Louise and the Bon Bonz.

The event has been held for the past five years and has raised more than £10,000 for Manorlands. Weekend tickets cost £12, Friday night is £5 and Saturday night £8. Book on (01535) 640430, or at the Sue Ryder shops in Haworth and Keighley, or the Guide Inn at Cullingworth.
