A sponsored walk in non-stop rain helped raise £2,455 to help give a sunny future to disabled actors in Keighley.

Family, friends and work colleagues of the late Nathan Brotherhead, pictured, walked five miles along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath.

Nathan, who died last December aged 21, was a keen member of Keighley’s Big Soup Theatre Company.

His family decided to create a new Nathan Brotherhead Film and Music Recording Studio at Big Soup’s Oakworth Road base.

The sponsored walk was just one of several activities carried out to raise money for the studio.

Regent Cards Running Club contributed £650 towards the total by members completing a marathon run.

Two men were sponsored to eat 72oz steaks, a spiritualist sanctuary hosted a night of mediumship, and a choir presented a concert.

Nathan’s father Chris praised the “good-hearted” people who had helped raise the money for the recording studio.

He said: “The Big Soup Theatre Company had a special place in Nathan’s heart. He loved performing in plays and also fell in love there.”
