A Keighley counselling service is expecting a surge in demand – thanks to a Hollywood movie.

Hope Springs, a comedy exploring the highs and lows of relationship counselling, hits cinema screens tomorrow and Relate Pennine Keighley & Craven is ready.

Director of services Diane Huck said: “We are expecting a lot of women and men to watch this film and come face-to-face with their relationship demons. We want to make it as easy as possible for couples or lone clients to talk to us as soon as they can.”

She added: “While the film isn’t without its Hollywood gloss, the issues that the main characters face will ring true with millions of couples who have lost the spark in their relationship and don’t know how to get it back.”

In the movie, Kay (Meryl Streep) and Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones) are a devoted couple but decades of marriage have left Kay wanting to spice things up.

They attend a week-long counselling session in a bid to reignite the spark.

Relate sees 140,000 people for face-to-face counselling every year and helps more than one million online and via the phone.
