Beer from Cumbria, Derbyshire and Lancashire will be served in Keighley this month during a celebration of all things northern.

The ales will be on offer at the Exchange Arts Centre, Russell Street, as it holds the 2012 Northern Beer Festival.

The centre has teamed up with Haworth Steam Brewery to run the event – with live bands – next weekend, October 12 to 14. Both are family businesses – Haworth Steam is run by the Gascoignes while the Exchange is part of Keighley Musicians Centre.

Festival organiser Jym Harris said: “We felt it would create a lot of interest if we were to feature a range of beers from all over the North of England alongside the best that Yorkshire has to offer.

“Yorkshire is renowned for its real ale and now has more breweries than anywhere else in the UK, and beers from all over the county will be available along with ciders and perries.”

Acts playing during the weekend will include local band Foxes Faux.

Admission is £5 which will include a free souvenir festival glass and a half pint drink.
