Wacky races and fancy dress were among the highlights of a teambuilding and activities day at South Craven School in Cross Hills.
The year 12 induction day saw the unsuspecting newest members of the sixth form crawl through the mud on a fun assault course. They were ‘helped’ by older students from year 13 who liberally doused them with water.
Some other, less messy events of the day included quizzes and debates.
A school spokesman explained: “The theme was Dare to be Different, and the students were encouraged to stand out from the crowd – a skill which is incredibly important in a society where there is so much competition.
“The students were challenged to do at least one thing every day that scares them, to inspire them to throw themselves into the excitement of the day.
In the final assembly, the students gave their personal views on what teamwork was all about and prizes were awarded.
