Glusburn Community Primary School has been awarded a national quality mark in recognition of its work promoting literacy and numeracy skills.

The school was judged on its approach to planning improvement in basic skills and how well it analysed assessments and set targets.

It was also examined on its support for pupils who under or over-achieved in reading, writing and maths. And it had to demonstrate its commitment to improving the skills of staff.

The school won praise for involving parents in developing children’s basic skills and tribute was paid to the teaching assistants. It is the fourth time since 2003 that the school has held the award.
