Fundraisers with Cancer Research UK are urging Keighley people to join their new campaign Stand Up To Cancer.

The charity has joined with Channel 4 which will run a week of programmes culminating in a live fundraising night on Friday.

The campaign will unite scientists, celebrities and communities to raise awareness and generate funds for groundbreaking research.

Natasha Howe, the charity's area volunteer manager covering Keighley, said: “Most of us know people whose lives have been touched by the disease. This is an opportunity to join the fight and make a stand.”

Natasha is pictured with colleagues Chloe Williams and Carole Avery, to represent the number of people diagnosed with cancer every hour in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Natasha said: “Over the three years I’ve worked for Cancer Research UK I’ve met and become close to so many supporters who’ve had cancer. And thankfully, thanks to research, most of them are still here today. Sadly, there are ones who haven’t been so lucky. It’s for them and their families that I’ll be Standing Up to cancer.”

A fundraising pack is available from standuptocancer.org.uk. T-shirts, hoodies, watches, badges, key rings and travel mugs are available from Cancer Research UK shops, and wristbands are available from Tesco.
