Pink Barmy Army went into action in Keighley as the hair salon raised vital money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Everything was pretty as pink as Hairavanti collected £1,030 for the charity with two events during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The salon teamed up with hairstyler manufacturer ghd, which has created a Pink Cherry Blossom styler to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

First was the Barmy Army day, where staff at the Cavendish Street salon dressed up and sold buns made by Cake Envy.

Staff had previously sold tickets for a £200 hamper containing a pink ghd styler, which was won by Kelsy Familio.

Later came a Glammed Pink night at the Albert pub, which included a pink carpet walkway, music from Day Trip To Venus and a tombola, with prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

A £200 gift hamper was raffled on the night, which was won by Frances McDonald.

Events marked the fourth year of fundraising by the Hairavanti team, which in the past has completed sponsored skydives, hair and beard dyeing, as well as rock nights.

Stefania Risidi, of Hairavanti, said: “More than 48,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, so we want to do whatever we can to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s life-saving research.”
