A FUNERAL firm has opened a shop in Keighley town centre.
Powell and Family has taken over premises in Cavendish Street.
Brian Langford, who owns the West Yorkshire arm of the company, said: "The aim is to bring funeral care to the heart of the community and to try to help people talk about a difficult subject in open, bright, fresh and comfortable surroundings in the centre of town."
The firm, in conjunction with Colne and Nelson College, has also taken on a new apprentice.
Luke Riley-Berry, 16, whose grandfather was in the trade, is studying both business and customer care as well as learning the skills required by a funeral director.
"He is doing remarkably well in his chosen career," said Mr Langford.
