KEIGHLEY-based British Thornton has appointed two non-executive directors.

Paul Rose is former chief executive of Rixonway Kitchens.

During his tenure, he oversaw the development of a new 175,000sqft factory and the eventual £34 million sale of the business to Swedish kitchen manufacturer Nobia UK in 2014.

Michael Bridge spent 15 years as national account manager at Lyons Maid, after which he was appointed by Sara Lee Bakery to build a retail business alongside its food service division.

He then spent two decades as a sales and marketing director at US corporation, Sonoco.

Both men will work in an advisory capacity on the board of British Thornton, which manufactures educational furniture.

Gerard Toplass, the company's chief executive, said: "Both Paul and Michael bring a wealth of experience and expertise.

"Their career achievements have been nothing short of stellar and their presence on the board will give us real impetus to drive the business forward and achieve great things."

Three employees have also won promotions. Jonathan Clark has become product design director, Mike Little group manufacturing and production director and Emma Dolman space planning director.
