Keighley-based Keybury Fire & Security – which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary – is developing a growing national presence in the UK shopping centre and water utilities sectors.
And the growth has helped the intruder and fire alarm business break through the £1.5m turnover barrier.
Over three decades, Keybury has installed more than 12,000 security systems in homes and businesses across Yorkshire.
In 2006, the firm established a standalone fire division to help companies meet their legal obligations when the Fire Safety Order came into force.
Managing director Frank Gee said: “We have also developed an emergency communication system for shopping centres. It is now installed in over 60 locations around the country, including White Rose in Leeds, the Metro Centre and, in London, Canary Wharf and the O2 Arena.
“Keybury has also developed a specialised anti-terrorist detection system to protect water reservoir sites, which is installed in over 500 locations throughout the UK.”
Founded at Queensbury in 1982 by Mr Gee and his wife Tricia, Keybury later opened a shop in Low Mill Lane, Keighley, before transferring to its present head office premises in Skipton Road in 1989.
Keybury director David Lalor heads up the fire division, while two recent additions to the board are HR director Karen Gee, daughter of the founders, and Patrick Beebe, who joined the company as an apprentice in 1987 and is now operations director.
