THE WEDDING Present will play the O2 Academy in Leeds on April 6 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their major-label debut album Bizarro.
The UK tour is part of a busy year to build on the popularity of 2017’s George Best 30 album, commemorating their first-ever album.
This year they will release Tommy 30, a re-recording of early singles, play summer festivals, and continue to promote screenings of the George Best feature-film documentary Something Left Behind.
The band will also be recording a new session for the BBC Radio 6 Music DJ, Marc Riley. The band’s first six Marc Riley sessions have already been released on two compilation LPs by Hatch Records of Leeds.
Finally, David Gedge is hoping to find time to continue writing and publishing issues of Tales From The Wedding Present - his autobiography in comic book form.
Radio presenter John Peel once said: “The boy Gedge has written some of the best love songs of the rock ‘n’ roll era.”
