WE ARE heading back to 1927 with the release of Downton Abbey (PG) on Friday September 13.

Downton Abbey is a British historical period drama film written by Julian Fellowes and directed by Michael Engler. It is a continuation of the television series, created by Fellowes, which ran on ITV from 2010 to 2015.

Much of the original cast returns for the movie adaptation, including Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Maggie Smith. So join us from Friday to find out what’s causing a stir among the Crawleys and servants alike. Rumour has it the film features a royal visit to Downton Abbey by King George V and Queen Mary.

Ad Astra (12a) is the next space-based film heading to the big screens. We’ve had some fantastic sci-fi films over the last few years such as The Martian, Passengers and First Man, so I’m excited to see what Ad Astra has to offer.

Released in UK cinemas from September 18, the movie follows astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) as he travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father (Tommy Lee Jones) and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of humans on Earth. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and its place in the cosmos.

If sci-fi doesn’t float your boat and you prefer the good old classic action film then look no further than Rambo: Last Blood which muscles its way to cinemas from September 19.

This is supposedly Sylvester Stallone’s last film, so this will be the last time we see him in his role as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. Last Blood is the sequel to Rambo (2008) and the fifth instalment in the Rambo franchise.

It co-stars Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adriana Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim, Joaquín Cosío, and Oscar Jaenada. In the film, Rambo travels to Mexico to save his niece, who has been kidnapped by a Mexican cartel.

The Kitchen (15) is Melissa McCarthy next film, released on September 20, a crime film written and directed by Andrea Berloff in her directorial debut.

Between 8th Avenue and the Hudson River, the Irish mafia runs 20 blocks of a tough New York City neighbourhood known as Hell’s Kitchen.

But for mob wives Kathy, Ruby and Claire, things are about to take a dramatic and radical turn. When the FBI sends their husbands to prison, the three women take business into their own hands by running the rackets and taking out the competition.

Melissa McCarthy has recently been turning her hand to the more serious roles in films such as Can You Ever Forgive Me?.
