Having reached the landmarks of 500 wickets and 17,000 league runs in the previous two weeks, Keighley skipper Richard Robinson was in the limelight again last Saturday against Yeadon in the JCT600 Bradford League.

He took 7-16 as his side snatched a dramatic Divi-sion Two tie at Lawkholme Lane, the visitors losing their last eight wickets for 15 to be bowled out for 179.

Yeadon appeared to be cruising to victory as skipper James Todd (78), Musta-fa Bhatti (41) and Ben Elvidge (35) took them to 164-2, but then Robinson weaved his magic.

Keighley had built their total around the efforts of opener Matthew Bottomley (70) and Tom Stead (39).

Keighley and Yeadon were also in opposition at second-team level and came close to repeating the tie that their first teams managed.

Visitors Keighley eventually squeezed home by one wicket but they were made to fight hard for their success, 30 from veteran Steve Reape proving vital as they squeezed past Yeadon’s 160-7. Reape had earlier picked up 3-43 for Keighley.

On Sunday, Keighley’s young opener Freddie Pear-son made a superb 102 as his side inflicted a 214-run first-team defeat on Great Hor-ton, who have now lost all 14 of their league matches.

Three sixes and 15 balls flowed from his bat in a 100-ball innings, and his good work was capitalised on by Max Davidson (46no) and Richard Robinson (43no) as Keighley posted 247-7.

They then dismissed Great Horton for just 33, Ross Towler taking 6-19 and Joe Stead 3-14.
