Cross Roads’ Mat Cowen has ended his first full season in the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series in ninth place.

He had to settle for a bottom-placed 14th finish in the eighth and final round of the series in the Krabi province of Thailand last week. That was despite being in fifth place after the opening four rounds, with Cowen then bowing out with a score of 434.70 in the head to head round with overall title winner Artem Silchenko.

After eight dives across four different locations, featuring off-the-cliff rounds as well as platform dives, Silchenko was announced as the winner of the final stop, finishing with a total score of 1010.00 points, ahead of the USA’s Steven LoBue, in second, and Colombia’s Orlando Duque, in third.

The Russian winner’s success saw him pip nearest challenger Gary Hunt, from England, to the 2013 Red Bull crown.
