PAUL March will blood youngsters where possible as he looks to utilise the whole of his squad.

Injuries and the death of Danny Jones has left him missing key players, and chairman Gary Fawcett revealed the club were monitoring the market for potential new recruits.

But March explained there were a number of youngsters who could be given their chance at some stage.

He said: “We’ve got a 29-man squad and there are a fair few players who haven’t played yet, so we’re talking more about them than signings from other clubs at this stage.

"The likes of Liam Darville, Scott Lee, Chris Watson and Tom Courtney haven’t played yet this year, so we’ve still got a lot of faces ready to come in but my main focus is making sure we have 17 fit players on the pitch to face Oldham this Sunday and I have to make sure it’s the right 17.”

March hopes to have Rikki Sheriffe and James Feather available after both suffered concussion, while he is also optimistic Jode Sheriffe (knee) should be fit.

Oldham, who are two points clear of Cougars at the top of League One, have a dual-registration agreement with Super League side Huddersfield Giants.

March said: “Dual registration is Oldham’s prerogative. As a Championship or League One club, you don’t know what you’re going to get with dual registration and we at Keighley prefer to go alone as it brings the squad closer together.

"Maybe Oldham wouldn’t be as high as they are without the Huddersfield players but they haven’t yet faced any of the top clubs, so this will be an obstacle that they will want to overcome.”
