KEIGHLEY Cricket Club are celebrating a Romwear Bradford Junior League cup double.
Following on from the success of their under-15 team, who won the JCT600 Laurie Boyden Trophy, the under-13s have won the JCT600 David Bairstow Cup, despite being without two of their top batsmen in Harris Rowlett and Kyle Welsh.
This threatened to make the final against a very good Undercliffe team close, and the Bradford club made 137-9 from their 30 overs, which included a superb 52 not out from Mohammed Anas.
Corey Green took 2-15 and Wahab Khan 3-24, both from six overs, while young Ellis Marshall bagged 2-11 off four overs.
Keighley, who had won their league without losing a match, didn’t start too well in their reply and were soon 11-2 but Joe Hall (37) and Owen Narey (45) built a 98-run partnership with some stylish batting.
They were both dismissed on 111 and it was left to Brad Powell to hit the winning runs to round off a remarkable unbeaten season for the double winners.
