Salts u-18s 1 Steeton u-18s 2
Steeton under-18s managed to finish the season unbeaten after a fine 2-1 victory over their Salts counterparts at the weekend.
They had to come from behind though after conceding early. A high ball was misjudged by deputy goalkeeper Harrison Houldsworth, who failed to read its flight and let it slip through his hands and into the net.
Salts then nearly doubled their lead when their striker broke into the Steeton box. Houldsworth closed him down but the striker pushed the ball round him.
However, helped by pressure from his defender Zain Hussain, Houldsworth managed to get back and pulled off a great save down at the near post that kept the score down to 1-0 at half time.
Lee Harwood levelled the scores on 60 minutes when a driven corner from Harry Farnell was met with a bullet header into the top corner.
In a frantic finale where both sides created chances, Steeton went on to snatch the win.
Dominic Westcott fired in a pass to Kaisar Ali and he laid it off to Tom Crossland. He ran on to the ball to slam home an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner to clinch victory.
