As the bowling season slowly gets under way, Silsden Ladies are one of the first into action when they play in the postponed Ladies Team Championship run by the Yorkshire ABA from last season.

The event takes place on Sunday at Cleckheaton Sports from 10am. There are six teams in the competition with two groups of three.

The locals are in a tough group with Rastrick and favourites, New Mill WMC B, themselves past winners of this event.

Silsden also begin their fixtures in the Yorkshire Ladies League on April 9 where they hope to retain their title. A difficult home game versus Mytholmroyd is first up for the locals.

Games continue in the Hebden Bridge team K/O on Monday in the main event or the Supplementary Cup depending on first match results.

The Worth Valley Veterans games in Divisions One and Two also begin on Monday.

Division One holders Gargrave A will be hoping to hold onto the trophy while Oxenhope, Sutton A, Silsden PF A and Cross Hills A might be hoping to avoid the drop.

Relegated Broughton Road will be hoping for a quick return to the top flight from Division Two.

Games in the Aire/Wharfe League begin this week with first matches in the main league on Saturday. Local sides Broughton Road, Sutton and Oxenhope will be hoping to challenge the top teams but will have to improve remarkably to have any chance of success.

Games in the Wednesday afternoon leagues also begin with Oxenhope in Division One and Addingham back in Divisionb Two. Also, the Tuesday Doubles League have begun involving teams from Oxenhope and Cross Roads from our area.

The Halifax League has begun with local teams, Cross Roads A, Cross Roads B and Denholme occupying the top three divisions respectively.
