Sowerby Bridge 192-8

Oxenhope 68 all out

OXENHOPE'S batting troubles continued with their lowest score of the season at Sowerby Bridge in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League Premier Division.

Visitors Sowerby Bridge were optimistic in following up the previous week's victory as once again the bowlers did their bit in restricting the home side to 192-8 in the 45 overs.

Ben Howell was again to the fore, taking 4-62 in his 14 overs with Joel Fothergill claiming two wickets.

Runs were shared out down the Sowerby Bridge order with eight players getting to double figures, but Joshua Wood's 64 was the anchor point of the innings.

In the mayhem that occurred at the start of the Oxenhope reply, Sam Mellor took four of the top order as they were reduced to 20-6.

Ben Howell (13) and Joel Fothergill (19) provided the only contributions in double figures apart from 13 extras.

Jake Dixon cleared up the tale with three wickets in 3.1 overs without conceding a single run as the innings folded in just 21 overs

Meanwhile, Oxenhope II gained a much needed win as they avenged the close defeat to Outlane a couple of weeks ago.

Outlane were put on to bat and that decision was justified as they were soon struggling at 57-6, Luke Fleetwood (2-36) and Hamzah Khan (3-34) being the key early wicket-takers.

Luke Webb (23) Gavin Roberts (36) and Rashad Khan (31) salvaged the innings with 145 all out before Rohid Ali cleared up the tail with 3-4 off just 3.3 overs.

In reply, Oxenhope made a similar poor start to be at 26-3 before Eddie Burke and Andrew Whitehead.

But together what transpired to be the match-winning stand. Simon Ainley finally broke the 80-run stand removing Whitehead for 36 & then took two more quick wickets to raise concerns in the Oxenhope pavilion.

But Burke carried his bat for 60 to see the home side to victory with 146-7.
