WEST Yorkshire is brimming with talent at super bantamweight on the domestic front and Keighley star Ibrahim Nadim believes he can add his name to the mix in the near future.

It is almost two years since the 22-year-old made his debut in front of the TV cameras on a Matchroom show at the York Hall.

And since, Nadim has been motoring along nicely with British boxing legend Ricky Hatton in his corner, compiling a 4-0 record and boxing up and down the country on huge stages in the likes of Manchester and London.

The region is proving to be quite the hotbed for prospects in the division. Olympian Qais Ashfaq, talented amateur Hopey Price and well-supported Jack Bateson all hail from Leeds.

Although they are further down the line in their progression, 'Ibby' feels bouts between himself and those men are inevitable.

He said: "I will definitely face them in the future. If we all keep winning, it will have to happen down the line.

"I just want to keep active and have as many fights as I can until I get to title level.

"Towards the middle of next year, hopefully I can fight for a Central Area title."

For now though, Nadim is fully focussed on Sunday night where he is aiming to gain his first knockout victory at Salford's AJ Bell Stadium.

To do so, however, it will take some performance. Experienced opponent Raymond Commey has only been stopped three times in his 17 defeats.

The Ghanaian will also be the first man with a positive record, 19 wins, that Nadim has fought thus far.

He added: "It is just another opponent. He is a bit of a step up but I am very confident that I can get the job done.

"I leave the video stuff to my coach Ricky. I just go in there with the gameplan I get told.

"He has got a good knockout ratio too, with 10 of his wins inside the distance. It will be a tough fight but I need these if I want to eventually move through the levels."

On chasing his maiden stoppage, Nadim said: "I will just be boxing him and if it comes, it comes. I am hungry for that first knockout.

"In my last fight, I hurt my opponent (Stefan Nicolae) but instead of keeping my range and doing what had got him in that position, I went in too close and he kept holding on. I just need to set the right shot up."

Also in action this weekend is Keighley fighter Liam O'Reilly.

The welterweight memorably proposed to his partner following a points win over Dale Arrowsmith in September at the Municipal Hall in Colne.

'Lights Out' graces that venue again on Sunday against debutant George Sutcliffe.
