IF becoming Keighley Cougars’ head of rugby wasn’t enough, Andrew Henderson also now happens to be a trained bodyguard.
The former Warrington Wolves assistant coach (pictured), who only joined Keighley a couple of months ago, has decided to take the unusual career move alongside two other rugby league stars.
One of those is popular former Bulls half Jarrod Sammut, who scored 32 tries in just 40 Super League appearances for Bradford in 2012 and 2013.
Sammut and Henderson passed the qualifications required to become trained bodyguards alongside current Halifax Panthers centre Greg Worthington.
The trio completed the training under former Warrington centre Matty Blythe, whose own post-playing career saw him help secure minefields in Iraq.
Blythe is now offering this fascinating pathway into the close protection industry for other former players through the Vanquish Training Academy.
The players have qualified in advanced surveillance, close protection, TSCM (Technical Surveillance Countermeasures) and first aid at work, with further information available at www.vanquishacademy.com.
