MEDALS were hard to come by at the City of Leeds National Qualifier at the John Charles Centre For Sport, but City of Bradford’s swimmers came home with one gold, two silver and a bronze along with three club records.

Following her success at the recent National Championships, it was 16-year-old Rebecca Dunn of Guiseley who looked most impressive.

She claimed gold in the 15 years and over 200m breaststroke in a time of 2.42.65 and followed this up with a club record of 1.16.03 in the shorter 100m event to place eighth.

Gina Warrior produced excellent swims in her favoured backstroke events and finished in silver medal position in the 15 years and over 50m backstroke in a time of 31.46 and in sixth place in the 200m backstroke in a time of 2.28.26.

Keighley youngster Ciara O’Carroll had four top ten finishes, her highest place being second in the 13 years and over 50m freestyle in a time of 29.71.

Other top ten finishes were Evelyn Gledhill (4), Quinn- Austin Kelly (4), Freddy Dean (3), Sophia Gledhill (2), Eliza Naglik (2) Dawid Naglik (2), Laura Temple (1) and Will Skiggs (1)

All swimmers train with Bradford Council’s Leisure Services Aquatic Competition Programme under the guidance of senior coach Andy Pearce and development coach Sarah Fisher.
